28 February and 1 March 2024 - House Fitness Challenge 2023-24

28 Feb - 01 Mar 2024
Competition

The House Committee held its annual “House Fitness Challenge” on Wednesday 28th February 2024, and Friday, 1st March 2024 in the amphitheater. This is the second year of the challenge, which debuted in the 22-23 academic year. The purpose of this event is to encourage the school community to engage in regular physical activities while simultaneously boosting house spirits through a healthy competition between houses.

The event brought back the three original individual challenges from last year: hanging, limbo, and standing long jump. As well, two new group challenges were involved: sit-up and shuttlecock-kicking, each with a unique goal and playing method that provided an unprecedented experience for our participants.

A grand number of 322 participants, including 42 teachers from all six houses, took part in this challenge. On both days, students from all forms, as well as teachers showed up and represented their own house in an attempt to climb the leaderboards of the different individual challenges. Both senior and junior students actively engaged in this event, trying their best to achieve the best records by bending their backs in limbo, holding onto the bar in the hanging challenge, and jumping forward with their utmost strength in the standing long jump challenge.

The challenge was successful in bringing everyone together. The audience and participants cheered and encouraged others who hesitated to make their attempt. Yells of amazement and shock were heard whenever a record was broken.

In the group challenges, participants joined in their respective family units and completed the specific task as a team. Most groups preferred doing sit-ups rather than shuttlecock kicking. Participants were able to come up with strategies within their units and maximize their efficiency in reaching the goal. It promoted their teamwork through communication and collaborative gameplay.

The school community has demonstrated great enthusiasm towards the event. We look forward to the next one!
