22-23 August 2023 - Summer Student Leadership Camp

New year, new beginnings! As we embark on a fresh chapter, our student leaders are expected to face brand-new challenges. In the upcoming year, they will assume the role of role models within the student body, guiding their peers through various activities and events with responsibility, motivation, and passion.

Before the new year began, the school arranged an overnight camp to empower student leaders with essential skills, fostering personal growth, teamwork and resilience.

The one-day camp was hosted by social workers and our SLC teachers. Heads and committee members from the student council, houses, charity teams and peer counselors were divided into six groups: Group H, Group A, Group R, Group E, Group S and Group T. When piecing the letters together, the word “HARVEST” is formed. The combined group names form an acronym that represent the ideas that the teachers wanted to convey to students during the overnight camp: Humble, Active Listening, Responsible, Visionary, Empathy, Sense of Belonging and Trust. During the camp, instead of teachers delivering these ideas to students, each group had to come up with a game that could convey the assigned quality. Students designed different creative games and thoroughly enjoyed the activities.

In addition to designing games, students also needed to prepare breakfast for their own groups and group teachers. With their cooking skills and teamwork, we witnessed impressive salads, pancakes, and noodles made by the students.

All in all, it was an excellent experience for the student leaders to showcase and develop their leadership skills. We cannot wait to see them shine in their roles in the coming year.
