19 October 2023 – CLP University Fair
After a three-year break, the annual University Fair returned to HKUGA College, and this year it was bigger than ever. Organised by the Career and Life Planning Committee, the event provides a wonderful opportunity for parents and students to speak to representatives from worldwide universities to help them plan for their all-important future.Enthusiastic ambassadors from over 30 top global universities were on hand throughout the evening to give first-hand information at their information booth about the extensive range of programs they had to offer. In addition to several prestigious universities from Hong Kong, representatives from the UK, Australia, Canada, Switzerland, Japan and the United States were in attendance and provided important information about the options available for those wishing to study abroad. While the chance to take away up-to-date brochures and leaflets was an important aspect for attendees, the representatives’ valuable advice and guidance for making an appropriate program choice and understanding the application procedures was invaluable.
Alongside the information booths in the halls, parallel seminars were held in various classrooms and the activity center, lasting 20 minutes each. Since many students view local institutions as dependable options for further study, these presentations in particular were extremely popular, with barely an empty seat in the house! The engaging talks were an excellent way for universities to showcase their strengths and uniqueness, thereby allowing students to consider which tertiary-education provider would be best suited to their skills, abilities and interests.
As the time for making post-graduation decisions is drawing near, the Career and Life Planning Committee offers invaluable assistance to students and parents during their final years of schooling. Since this event was accessible to the wider community, numerous students and parents from different schools also gained advantages from the activities of the evening, departing with a plethora of fresh knowledge to contemplate. In summary, the fair experienced a steady stream of attendees, an active sharing of knowledge, and a warm, community-oriented atmosphere.
