Mr. Daniel Wong - Tutor of S2SW
Being a graduate of a Bachelor’s Degree majoring in Chinese History and History at The Chinese University of Hong Kong in the late 1990s, I try my best to raise the thinking, analytical and critical skills of students by means of an in-depth research in numerous historical topics. It is also of utmost importance to widen the horizons of students with a broad historical view as they have to be well-prepared for their future successful career.
As a postgraduate of Postgraduate Certificate in Education at The University of Hong Kong in the early 2000s, I learnt how to teach students with the help of various types of teaching aids. Group learning is essential to them because they know how to learn on their own with assistance from the teacher. Discussion is also a normal practice since they can exchange their vastly different ideas and this is beneficial to their future studies.
Being a postgraduate of a Master’s Degree majoring in Cultural Studies at The Chinese University of Hong Kong in the mid-2000s, I am able to teach Chinese History and History in other points of view. For example, the cultural histories that are closely related to our daily lives are emphasized instead of the traditional political and economics ones. It is because we can sketch the political and economic development of the whole society from what we see and touch in our daily activities. Films are also a type of culture. It is meaningful to cultivate a historical sense in the students’ mind with the help of film analysis and appreciation.
