文字方塊: New Supervisor of HKUGA Primary School

Mr. Wong Kai Man, a Founding member of the Foundation, first jointed the School Management Committee (SMC) of the School in August 2002, just before the School commenced operation. He was subsequently appointed Treasurer, Chairman of the SMC and Supervisor of the School.

In the past few years, under the leadership of Mr.Wong and the school managers, and because of the great efforts and dedication by all school staff, the School has developed into a reputable school in Hong Kong.

After seven years of tireless service, Mr. Wong has expressed his desire on several previous occasions to retire from his post as Supervisor so that he could devote more time to his family and his other public and community services. After careful consideration, the Executive Committee of the Foundation (EXCO) has reluctantly accepted his decision to relinquish his current position and at his recommendation, appointed Mrs. Lam Fan Kit Fong, Fanny, one of the school managers, to succeed him as the Supervisor effective from 1 September 2009. We would like to take this opportunity to express our sincere appreciation for Mr. Wong’s contributions to the Primary School and welcome Mrs. Lam to join us.

Mrs. Fanny Lam is a former senior official of the Education Bureau. She has recently retired from Government after 26 years of service. In her last post as Principal Assistant Secretary, she was in charge of the development of government schools, special education services, educational psychology services, education subventions, Direct Subsidy Scheme, and student guidance & discipline. She was a secondary school teacher for 6 years before joining the former Education Department. Mrs. Lam also sits on the EXCO and is a School Manager of HKUGA College.

文字方塊: Arrangements during school suspension

Based on the assessment of the Department of Health on the latest information of the Influenza A H1N1 in Hong Kong, the Education Bureau (EDB) recommends secondary schools to advance the summer break for students after completion of their final examinations and all necessary arrangements. As such, the College decided to have the summer holidays from 26 June to 31 August, 2009.

Except for the diving trip in Cebu, the Philippines, the other planned CAS trips to Beijing, Shanghai, Huangshan, Nanjing, Nepal and Singapore were all cancelled. But the Pre-Secondary 1 Hong Kong Attainment Test (Pre-S1 HKAT) was conducted on 14th July, 2009 as scheduled by the EDB. Parallel to it was a seminar with S1 parents (09/10) in the Assembly Hall on important information of the school.

Nonetheless, the staff worked hard as usual during the children’s early holidays to get the report cards done, write the year-end reports and draft the teaching and learning plan for the next school year.
