Implementation Strategies

 1. Close partnership with HKU ensures high learning and teaching standards

The college enjoys access to the professional expertise of the HKU Faculty of Education in curriculum design, teacher development, teaching and learning evaluation, research on education practices, and other areas. We also work with other academic faculties at HKU and other universities on learning programmes and related projects.

 2. Eye on the World - Becoming a Regional Quality School in Asia

Leveraging on Hong Kong’s development into an educational hub, we set our eyes on Asia and beyond. English and Putonghua—the languages of the future—are adopted as our media of instruction. We aim at getting approval from the government and reserve about 10% of school places for outstanding students from mainland China, S.E. Asia and other areas. We have strategic partnerships with top schools on the mainland, Taiwan and other major cities for professional exchange.

 3. Life Education Through Hostel Experience

The college will negotiate with the government and seek funding to provide at least 3 to 6 months of hostel life to every student as part of life education. Such experience, we hope, will complement community service and adventure-related activities to help students develop confidence, independence, communication and social skills and a healthy lifestyle.

 4. Outstanding ‘Through Train’ Model

HKUGA College and HKUGA Primary School operate under the ‘through train’ school model in the Direct Subsidy Scheme. The school management committees of the two sections work side by side strategically as one, with shared vision and mission. Teachers in the ‘through train’ school monitor each student’s progress through the student profile and portfolio, enabling individual differences to be dealt with promptly. The portfolio is also a feedback for the parents who are involved in their children’s education.

 5. Professional Teaching Team

Visionary, professional and knowledgeable, teachers are our assets. Under the guidance of the Principal, the school becomes a learning organization where all members devote themselves to life-long learning. Our teachers are encouraged to keep a personal teaching portfolio and to engage in constant self-assessment and reflection through peer observation, training workshops, and experience sharing with other schools. Professional development is emphasized jointly with the adoption of a whole school pastoral approach to ensure our children are developed to their fullest potential.

 6. Class Structure and Tuition Fees

A total of 30 classes from S1 to S6, with 5 classes per year level and approximately 32 students in each class. For the school year 2007 – 2008, tuition fee for S1 is HK$27,000 per year. Students in need can apply for financial assistance. There is also a scholarship scheme for outstanding students.

學校具備國際視野,相信香港絕對有條件提供區域性的優質教育。學校將以英語和普通話作為教學語言。 我們的目標是爭取政府的同意,開放約百分之十的學額,接受內地、東南亞和其他地方的優秀學生入讀。 學校並將與內地、台灣和海外的優質學校,建立策略性夥伴關係,進行教學合作及交流。

 3 重生命教育,提供宿舍經驗

學校將與政府商討地點,及籌集資金設立宿舍,讓學生在中學階段最少有三個月至六個月的宿舍生活,作為生命教育的一部份。同時,學校又會通過社會服務、挑戰性的活動等培養學生的信心、獨立自主、自我管理、與人溝通交往的能力以及健康的體魄。

 4 樹立成功的「一條龍」學校模式

學校將與「小學」建立為「一條龍」直資學校的卓越模式。兩間學校有統整和延續性的教學使命和目標。老師對學生的發展有更全面的掌握,能未雨綢繆扶掖和協助學生。家校合作亦事半功倍。

6 班級結構與學費

學校的班級結構為三十班,由中一至中六,每級五班。 每班人數約三十二人。2 0 0 7 – 2 0 0 8 中一學費為每年二萬七千元。學校設有學費減免及獎學金計劃。
